This weekend was the Patriotic Festival. It is Virginia Beach's largest festival of the year. Mike was asked to volunteer for security at the Zac Brow Band and Gary Allen concert that night! We thought it was not a bad idea. He needs the checks on his eval and at least he would get to see the concert. I was excited for him to have a volunteer opportunity that might be fun. Then I wondered why in the world was I not going? It is free, on the beach and good bands. So...Angie and I decided to go and take the kids! We got there early and got a pretty good spot. The kids played so well. (other than pissing off a few drunks who thought it was a fabulous idea to put their towel down right in front of a child's chair - I warned them - they did not heed warning - no tears when you got sand down the back of your pants) Mike ended up working the stage - his job was the keep the screaming hotties off the stage! Tough job right? He also got a t-shirt and $5. That is what I call a killer volunteer opportunity! Zac Brown Band put on a
great show and although Gary Allen's was pretty slow...it was good too. He sang Life Ain't Always Beautiful and I thought about Kurt. (It was played at his funeral.) Mike did too. It was a nice evening. Not too hot or humid, a nice breeze and some lightening in the distant sky... You can not beat good music, your toes in the sand and happy kids withe the American flag flying high above us all. Well, a beer in my hand would have been nice! Mike ended up riding home with us and consequently falling in love with Angie's car. It is pretty sweet. Speeking of cars, they unveiled the 2010 Camero and I thought Mike was going to drool! It was pretty nice! Somehow, Sullivan stayed up until we got home. He really had a great time!
