When Noni was visiting, Mike and I ran to the grocery store to pick up a few things. There is a little Itlaian resturaunt next to the store called Bella Napoli. We really had not thought much about it because every Italian resturaunt we had been to so far was not what we were looking for. We wanted something authentic, as close as possible to the food we ate in Italy. When we were walking in the store a guy was carrying a pizza out of Bella Napoli so I decided to ask him how it was. His response was, "The best pizza in the area and their sandwiches are fabulous too!" That seriously sparked out interest! We were going to have a pizza one night any way so we decided to give it a try. On Mike's way home from work he stopped by to get a menu. While there he talked to the lady at the counter about us living in Sicily etc... That night we loaded up and went to Bella Napoli for pizza! When we walked in and saw Carmella and her family, I felt like I could have been right smack dab in Mineo (a small town in Sicily that we frequented) except that she spoke amazing English with a beautiful accent! We ordered pizza and sat down to wait on it. So many things were just so Italian. The accents and language spoken in the back. The TV up in the corner of the room. So many family resturaunts in Sicily had TV's in them. They were so sweet to Sullivan as they were in Sicily. Italians really love children. Sullivan had a pear juice to drink that was sold at Abate, the Italian grocery we used to shop at. Our pizza came and it was perfecto! Just like the pizza at our local pizzaria in Sicily! We were so excited! I did not get to practice my Italian but over time as we frequent this little gem I hope to get to practice and maybe learn a little more. We ended up going back again another day for sandwiches and calzones! Again, a fabulous experience! Today, we picked up arancini from Carmella. She made them for us even though they are not on the menu. Motto Buono!!! They should be on the menu!!! There is something so wonderful about Italian families. They have a sense of loyalty and love that is just so deep! They really are amazing people. I am so excited to have met Carmella and her family! They are from Naples and the whole family has moved here in the last few years. I am excited to be able to have authentic Italian food if I want it and am super duper excited that she is looking to expand their business to add beer and wine and eventually a lot of other authentic foods that I can not wait to have!!! I am hoping for some of my favorites....vino roso, gelato, arancini, cipolini..... Bella Napoli is a must try! Sorry Papa John...
