On January 21, Mike took the chief's exam AGAIN. Thank you for all of you who said a prayer for him. He thinks he did OK. You know how those tests go though. He has done extremely well on it the past 4 years so I hope he did the same this year. I really hope this is his year.
If he did well on the exam then he is considered "board eligible". That is big but, does not mean he will make chief. If he becomes "board eligible" then he will submit his package which is basically a report of what he has done his last 5 year in the US Navy to the board. That package will be compared to other board eligible sailors in the same rate and they will take the top however many they are taking. It is very competitive. He has fantastic evals and ranked #2 out of 40ish but...he had not deployed and you just don't know what others are doing. So, we are crossing our fingers, saying out prayers and really hoping that he has done enough and that this is his year. I am ready to pin on some anchors!
