To celebrate our freedom on Veterans Day weekend, once they cut Mike free at work,(no pun intended) we packed our car and headed to the great state of S.C. Actually we could have left earlier but they did not give Mike's command Friday off until Wednesday at 4:00 so we were not planning this trip at all. We left Thursday morning. After a long, but not bad, first trip home with the baby, we headed to the Rotary club auction and dinner with Mom, Dad, Zeke and Brett, where I was made to feel super cheap and my lucky brother won $1000. Yep, that horseshoe is RIGHT up his ass, I tell ya! Somehow I was jipped of that gene. People who do not believe in luck have not spent much time with Zeke Lynam. We had a nice evening out but crashed hard when we got home. Friday Mom and I shopped and then met the boys at the hunt club where Sullivan and Pop were fishing and Zeke and Mike were hunting... hunting being the operative word as nothing was killed. Mike will get a deer one day and it will be a joyous event. He did shoot at a hog but he did not have a good shot at it and missed. He just wanted to shoot the gun I think. We were standing around waiting on dark and heard his shot. I about wet my pants with excitement but then I got the text...just a hog...maybe...maybe not...not. He will get a deer one day...I just know it. Sullivan is now rooting for him big time. Anyway, Saturday we ended up meeting Sandy and Anna in Columbia so Mason could meet his Noni for the first time. He of course loved her! Who doesn't! Short and Sweet visit. Hopefully more time at Thanksgiving. After a little shopping we headed home to eat BBQ with the family and watch the Tigers play. Another loss. Have I mentioned lately that I love my family! I just do. Sunday we celebrated Laurel's 2nd birthday! She was so cute all dressed up and ready to party! After some slaw and dogs we got on that dreaded I-95. We tear that highway up. It is on a first name basis with our Tahoe. For real. As always it was a wonderful trip home and ...we left feeling really homesick. Wanting so bad to be moving to S.C. Not going to happen anytime soon. Our PRD (military talk for the day we are supposed to leave here) is March 2012. At that time Mike will have less than 2 years in military before his 20 years is up. If he does not make chief he will have to retire. If he makes chief then that changes everything. So...who knows when I-95 will miss the sounds of our tires...and a trip home will be short and sweet and do-able for every occasion. Just like that deer Mike is going to shoot...one day it will happen, I promise. We've got South Carolina on our mind...
Thank you all who served and are serving, for your time, for your passion for our great country and for your sacrifice! Thank you to your families who sacrifice with you and for giving us the chance to enjoy freedom!
Disclaimer: Phil Leventis is not running for senate. He is our senator. This pin is from the last election but Sullivan wore is with pride, saying it was his badge. I am sure people in Sumter and Columbia were a little confused...oh well.
This is why we call him bubbles...
Reading the paper with Pop!
Such a little priss!
And I failed to mention the magic bottle...it is exactly that, magic.
