Be Free....

The Easter bunny brought Sullivan a butterfly habitat!  We ordered the caterpillars and had the best time!  It was so much fun to watch.  We watched them form cristalus'(hummm is that spelled right?) and then turn into butterflies.  And we learned lots!  OK, maybe not lots but we did learn!  For starters I learned that butterflies are born to mate.  Yup.  Sullivan wanted to know why they were stuck together by their butts????  So I used trusty google and well....they are mating.  The male butterfly will chase the female around with his thorax turned towards her until he gets what he wants.  At the end of the thorax is his penis.  I know GROSS right???  And they were all doing it on my kitchen counter!  I wanted to flick the males every once in a while and tell them to leave her alone.  Anyway, back to a G rated blog, once they were all butterflies it was time to release them. Sullivan released them on our butterfly bush and they flew away...
