Our last WONDERFUL day in DC

We woke up a little sad to go but thrilled to see the boys!  Off to the Smithsonian Institute National Air and Space Museum first!  Hand down our favorite museum there.  We did a free tour and had the best docent ever!  Heard the best stories and learned lots!  Anna stayed up front and was interested in ALL of it. The last picture at Air and Space was my favorite story...too long to add here but lets just say I was choked up and I was not the only one...  After our tour we walked around a little, ate lunch at the ginormous McDonald's inside the museum and headed to get our car!

Off to Arlington....if we can ever find it.  Ha ha!  Yeah, we got lost even with a gps.  But, we made it and it was well worth it!  Beautiful day and beautiful place to honor these men and women.  Saw the Kennedy family grave, several past presidents resting spots, the once home of Robert E. Lee and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers with the Changing of the Guards. Very humbling...but beautiful honor.

Our trip to Washington D.C. was amazing!!!  We had a wonderful time and learned so much.  That sounds so cliche' but honestly It was a blast!  I have been feeling like my children were missing out because we had not taken them to Disney.  Hands down this trip was much more than Anna would ever get out of Disney.  A years worth of History lessons wrapped up in one wonderful weekend and it was fun! At 12 (and 13, 14,15....) I thought history was boring and frankley I hated it but this was NOT boring and she got lots our of it.  I wanna go back!  I can not tell you how laid back everything was.  My expectations were 100% totally different.  I really loved it, every bit of it.  I highly recomend everyone make this a MUST VISIT and 12 is a fabulous age to take with.  So glad Anna banana came with us.  The trip would not have been the same with out her.  We will see D.C. again one day...soon I hope.

And one more thing checked off my 100 in 100 list - even though I am WAY over 100 days...
#10. Visit Washington D.C. - CHECK
