We've got orders!!!

As hard as it was to hear, we finally got orders.  Mike will be deploying to Bahrain for 12 months to a mobile security det.  He leaves Jan 8th, 2012 for school and will return for 2-4 weeks in between the 2 schools for leave time.  Then he flies off to Bahrain for 12 long months.  I am happy for him to get to do something fun.  He will be deploying from Bahrain to help protect ships as they pull into ports, or something like that.  We are not looking forward to being apart but are really, really trying to focus on the positive aspects of it.  What are they, you might ask??  More pay, new laptops,  possibly moving home for a year to be closer to family, maybe a job that could help him make chief (no he did not make it again this year.  Even his senior chief says the system failed this year. Oh well... maybe it is his time to consider retiring...), gold and diamonds, and a new aspect to our marriage and family.  I'm trying here.  He will be traveling for a year by bike because he will not have a car.  Luckily we know someone there now and have another contact who will be there when he is there AND, his senior chief will also be there.  Some days I feel scared to death and others I feel like we will be fine.  Some days I worry about him getting lonely and some days I worry about the kids, especially Sullivan.  I guess that is all part of being a military wife.  I will finally know how it feels to be a military spouse holding the fort down and how it feels to have him return home!   Maybe instead of photographing a homecoming, I can get a photographer.  So, life is changing for us but, we will be OK.  We don't have a choice.  Many, many women do it and so can I.   I will need visitors so plan your trip!!!
