This year...

Welcome 2012!  I know, it sounds weird from someone who is about to send her BFF off for almost 16 months and become essentially a single mother.  But I have to tell you, I welcome 2012.  Yes, this year will be hard.  I do not doubt that for 1 second, but we are going to survive and we are going to do it well.  We have a choice.  We can mope and cry or we can make it something special.  (remind me of this if need be)  So, we have decided as a family that this year is going to be special.  We are incredibly blessed.  Our lives will not be put on hold.  Yes, we will be sad.  Yes, there will be times where we feel desperate for each other.  Yes, we will feel like some days last forever.  And yes, we will most likely just want to scream with frustration.  But, we will not let it define us.  No we are going to live life.  Mike may be leaving us for a while, but he will be coming back home.  It could always be worse.
Mike leaves on January 8th to report to Mississippi for school.  It is going to be a pretty interesting school for him.  He will learn to give IV's, put a breathing tube in someone and navigate his way out of anywhere.   All skills we hope and pray he will never have to use but if he does, we hope he saves lives and finds his way home to us.   He will also be shooting guns a lot.  Fun for him, I guess.  After he graduates from this school he heads to San Diego for a month of just hanging out.  Yeah, we were not too happy with this but, it is what it is.  The next school will start in the beginning of March and will be a month of serious physical conditioning as well as other skills needed.  He will then come home for 30 short days before leaving to go to Bahrain for 12 months.  We are so thankful for the technology that we have today.  We will be able to talk to him and even see him on Skype just about every day.  This will help us all a lot.  His job in Bahrain will be Mobile Security.  He will be going on missions during the year to provide port and vessel security in foreign countries.  I guess it will be more exciting than his last few jobs.  From all we hear Bahrain is a nice place to be stationed and the only downfalls are the obvious.  Distance from the ones you love.  He will get paid more but that will not make our home less lonely or our hearts full.  We will miss his dearly and he will miss us even more.  But, he will be busy learning a new job, working out, going to school and keeping in touch with us.  We will be busy too.  I have plans.  Lots of them.  They all swirl through my head constantly!!!  And these plans, along with communication and our faith not only in each other but in our Lord will get us through.  Wish us luck, pray for us all often, especially for Mike and I hope to be able to see you and/or talk to you this year!
